One of the things I love about CrossFit is that it’s always about what your body is capable of, not how it looks. This is why CrossFit was the sport for me. Growing up overweight came with judgment & misunderstanding about how much effort I would put into something. Those who are overweight are so quickly labelled as lazy. For me, I just didn’t understand what foods I should & shouldn’t eat combined with the exercise I was doing. Coming into CrossFit, where effort is praised, whether you are able to do something or not, was new. It was the best opportunity to show that I wasn’t lazy; I wanted to work hard. Working hard & making progress began to heal that part of me that was always told I was lazy.
CrossFit introduced me to a new version of myself. The methodology, in all aspects, helped me to lose over 20kg, do things I didn’t think I could & build sustainable coping mechanisms. Not only could I now move better, I also thought better of myself. Stuck in a job that didn’t serve me, I pursued & pushed for something more.
My incredible experience of starting CrossFit developed a passion for supporting, developing & encouraging by coaching individuals & communities to strive to be the best version of themselves.
